A new stained wooden gate blends old-fashioned to eclectic and modern. If the owner of a wooden gate chosen to color there are many options to choose from, such as oil-based gel made of water and one step stain / finishes. Each type has its strengths andweaknesses and a decision must be made regarding the final requirements of the owner. The easiest type to use is the one step stain as the stain and finish applied simultaneously therefore eliminating multiple steps. Gel stains are usually oil based and has great colorcontrol, but these cities are more expensive and buffing must be done between the layers. This can be avoided, but by conditioning the wood to accept based water before applying stain. Each type should be cautious in following the instructions of the manufacturer of the stain.
For only the phase-onevillages in different layers of the stain should be used to make the color necessary to achieve. This is done with a cloth or brush and get at least 15 minutes between layers to allow for penetration. When the preferred stain color is reached, a waiting period of 10 hours is required before use. If a layer of polyurethane is desired for further weather resistance, a minimum of 72 hours required for the stain to dry before applying.
